it always takes me a day or two to remember that the skiing is likely still to be quite good up on the steam mill rd., especially starting from the natural turnpike parking lot. that was the case over the weekend--the surface was flat, thanks to the snowmobile groomer, and held some ice even into sunday midday.
hopefully we won't need it for a while, but it's a great fallback
