Cherry Day...Last Hardwax?...we'll see

The boyz did a great job gromming today and classic skiing (is skating really skiing?) was full on cherry with a little VR50 over binder. Decent kick and glide to next week. If this is our last day of hardwax skiing for the year, it was a good one.

Nice job Tim, Jim, Chaz, John and everyone else who was involved in making cordory and laying rails in the snow this year (even the old English guy from over the hill who loans his Bomby as needed).
Single Track

Some of our trails may be groomed, on occasion, with a single track down the center or with double tracks. If you are skate skiing and encounter this, typically on Holland and Frost trails, please stop, turn around and ski elsewhere. Skating on a single track ruins it for others. Please respect our tracks. As the season winds down and conditions become more frozen granular due to freeze/thaw cycles typical of March, we will groom more for skate skiing.
Snow at Bread Loaf

The snow is coming down at about an inch an hour. I have gone over the 10K race trail loop and Frost with the Bully, things are starting to level up. Will continue grooming on main race trails today. Very windy in the fields, whiteout conditions.

Anybody know a good snow dance?

Looks like we are back to burning big amounts of fossil fuels to find groomed skiing this week. VanHo holding up good with good 20km loop in woods (Porter Mt. and Ladies 5km) with no big holes as of yesterday - can't say what happened today but trail cam looks like they did not loose much from yesterday.

when the temps rise

it always takes me a day or two to remember that the skiing is likely still to be quite good up on the steam mill rd., especially starting from the natural turnpike parking lot. that was the case over the weekend--the surface was flat, thanks to the snowmobile groomer, and held some ice even into sunday midday.

hopefully we won't need it for a while, but it's a great fallback

Despite the thaw, the skiing is pretty good

We skied at Breadloaf today and despite the warm temperatures and light misting rain, the skiing was pretty good, either classic or skating. I'd even venture to say that the skiing was better than a week ago, because Chas and Jim have been working hard throwing down boughs and shoveling snow over water channels. The weather forecast says the worst of the rain is over, but the temperatures might rise into the the fifties tomorrow.
